Gender Representation In Print and Auto-Visual Text

Nicki Minaj Vogue Magazine Cover Within the front cover of the vogue magazine, you notice that the main central image is Nicki Minaj. She is in a straight position which reinforces the factor of direct mode of address due to her looking straight towards the camera (audience). The use of the direct mode of address represents her as dominant and empowered. The sense of empowerment is further portraited through the cover line at the bottom under her feet resulting in she embodies a high status. She is also dressed in a long black dress which subverts the representation of women being sexualised in the media, as black is a very powerful and unprovocative. However, the slit at the bottom of her dress signifies that omen still need to potentially show a percentage of size to capture men attention. Her straight and strong body posture indicates that’s she wants to be taken seriously and that within the over she wants to be shown as powerful. Taylor Swift 'Bad Blood' Music Video  Tay
