Save The Children Advert

 Camera and Editing:

Within the advert there is only a use of one camera shot being a close up shot. However, it is not an extreme close up shot as you are still able to see the atmosphere/ the actions taking place in the background. The use of this camera shot to show the change in her emotions throughout the entire advert from start to end. This is also shown through the use of a ridgely structure. Although she doesn’t make direct mode of address in majority of the advert, she makes direct mode of address at the end to make the audience feel sympathetic due to the stages of emotional clips that they have watched prior. This directs to the audience that she wants their help, in order for things to go back to the way it was before and that they could do this by donating towards the cause behind this advert. The camera shot use front to add is a close-up home it’s not an issue and close up as you’re still able to see that it’s taken place in the background this gives the audience an impression of what happens and what the girl also known as the main character suffers throughout and how her motions change over time due to the effects of the events. The use of the camera shot not changing keeps the direct mode of address that the child makes with the audience consistent, gradually this begins to build sympathy and empathy from the child to the audience because due to her direct of address they are able to feel that her emotions on a personal scale.

Lighting:

Within the advert use for this video at the beginning of the video there is a warm light to enhance the happy mood that the character is in however as the video gradually continues the lighting dulls and turns cold to give a grey background and to embed that events have taken a turn for the worse and that there is a negative attitude throughout the rest of the video as the audience proceeds to watch it. With the effect of the light in the expressions on the characters face goes from happy to scared to and curious to upset, this is represented through her change in her smile.

Mise En Scene:

The use of mise on scene in the advert builds narrative. For example at the beginning of the advert the prop of a cake and a candle represents happiness family and celebration however at the end they used a candle but instead of a cake it was in a porridge which represents the loss of certain family members, the lack or celebration and the lack of happiness that has now be represented in the span of a years time furthermore the use of the teddy bear which she holds for a video represents I has a very important to her and it’s her one connection to all the memories that she has made in the past which are full of joy and happiness and excitement.

Representation In Tide Advert

Within the advert for Tide from the 1950s, women are represented in a way to reinforce the stereotype that all they are good for is cleaning, which was what was dominantly linked to the purpose of women back then. This is reinforced due to the masthead saying, 'Tide's got what women want' portraying that their main target audience is women as every women at that time period use tide on a daily basis and can't live without it, instigated by the verb 'want'.  Women are represented as innocent and vulnerable due to the clothing that is given to them in the advert. The use of the polkadot dress shows innocence as a simple yet elegant design however the use of red lipstick shows seductive and vulnerability towards the product being advertised in the advert. Due to her hair being tied up you are able to get the impression that she is keen to clean and that she is keen to use this product this is also enhance by the indirect mode of address made from the audience, Ye...

Beyonce Music Videos

In the music video of Beyoncé's song 'Already ft. Major Lazer' is set in the environment of a black country and culture. This is evident due to the style of clothes she is wearing throughout the whole video which consists of animal print clothing, painted clothing which is often found in West Indian tribes and an outfit made entirely of gold. the style of the movie is a storytelling narrative as it is not constantly focused on her the entire video. There are clips of the other participants dancing and just being natural in their own atmosphere, I believe this is to tell the story of what black cultures are like as well as enforcing history. Because in the past stories were told through dance instead of talking or from books. As well as the video being a storytelling narrative, the lyrics within  the song itself also embed great power behind what Beyoncé is trying to express through her video and the song as well. One main key term which is easily picked up in the video is t...

Black Panther

Why is Black Panther defined as a mainstream film? The movie Black panther, produced by Kevin Feige & David J. Grant, is defined as a mainstream film due to the main genres allocated with mainstream films being identified within the movie such as, action, sci-fi & superhero.  However although it suits majority of the criteria related to films identified as mainstream, it also suits properties of an independent film. For example, the narrative/ theme of the movie gives off escapist entertainment due to the story which consists of big/ famous stars in the media industry- for this instance: Chadwick Boseman & Micheal B Jordan etc. Unlike other mainstreams Black Panther doesn’t have a closed ending however it has an opening ending which is a feature of a independent film- leading to a potential sequel of the movie. Sequels in marinara are seen as normal due to many high end mainstream films leading into a sequel, whether they are a franchise or not.  What also m...
